After a number of years of praying about the hearts desire to pull Bay Area motorcyclists together for a benefit, Ron and Arlene Brandis decided they would use the idea of doing a motorcycle benefit for supplying food to the local food distribution center. Past experience with the food shelf office and knowing there were times that food donations drastically drop off, would become the focus of the benefit run. Unknown to the couple , at this same time of planning the benefit, the existing food shelf was going through a reorganization. It was now changing over to a ministry run by 17 covenant churches from the area.
They started working towards the second benefit run which took place in Ashland, WI on September 2008. A connection with one local family brought in the first volunteers to assist with this run.
This year numerous riders from the 2008 Feed The Need Run have stepped forward to assist with the September 6th run. All have a special love for not only the Lord but for those in great need in our area.
The run is completely paid for, opening the door for 100% of ALL donations to go directly to the purchase of food. A benefit account is established at the Northern State Bank. Feed The Need is a non-taxable benefit. All money is ear-marked for food only. All donations are deposited into this account and dispersed to The B.R.I.C.K. Ministries, Inc. (Believers Reaching Individuals for Christ's Kingdom). To learn more about The B.R.I.C.K. Ministries go to : www.thebrick.us
Essentially, the Feed The Need Benefit Run is a ministry, to a ministry, thereby effectively being able to help with the food distribution to those in the Chequamegon Bay Area.
